To prepare for your inspection appointment:
REGISTRATIONS
Please ensure that each unit has a legible, current registration available. The registrations can be left in the vehicle or presented to the inspection team at the beginning of your appointment. If a unit does not have a valid registration, the inspection cannot proceed.
UNITS
Please make sure all units are accessible and that keys are in the vehicle or given to the inspection team. If you are providing a mechanic/helper, this person often provides keys one at a time or preps the units by placing keys in them and removing them after the inspection is complete.
INSPECTION POINTS
As a fleet owner or manager, you are probably very familiar with all of the requirements for vehicle inspection. Below is a short list of the most commonly overlooked items.
- Lights - particularly rear lights that require a helper to check. Plate lights are a requirement on all units, and yes, EVERY light on the unit must work as designed.
- Tires - tread depth is important, as is checking for bulges, cuts, dry rot, and rubbing between dual wheels.
- Frame - often overlooked, the frame is a vital piece of safety for your equipment. Check for cracks and broken or missing supports and bolts.
- Dump alarms - the alarm must be audible to the driver, visual alerts are not enough.
